As of the evening of July 23, authorities are responding to a fire resulting from an explosion at the Jose Cuervo tequila plant in Tequila, Jalisco. The initial blast reportedly occurred in a tank storing alcohol. The incident killed at least two people and injured five others; the casualty toll may increase over the coming hours. Emergency workers evacuated at least 100 nearby residents from the area and have reported damage to nearby structures. Authorities are warning the public to avoid the city center until further notice.

A heightened security presence will likely continue in the affected area over the coming hours. Transport and business disruptions are probable.
