Poland: Opposition supporters to demonstrate at Sejm in Warsaw July 9
Opposition activists to protest at Sejm in Warsaw, Poland, from 17:30 July 9. Heightened security, transport disruptions likely.
Leaders of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party are organizing a protest at the Sejm (Parliament) on Wiejska Street in Warsaw from 17:30 July 9. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce the alleged erosion of the rule of law under the current Polish government. It remains unclear how many participants will attend; however, similar protests by the PiS have drawn very large crowds.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the Sejm. Authorities may close roads near the planned protest site. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, potentially escalating to clashes, cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Sejm. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
