Spain: Activists protesting in Ibiza July 24

Local activists protesting at Marina Ibiza, Ibiza, Spain, as of the morning of July 24; increased security likely.

Warning

Local activists led by the Canviem El Rumb political organization are protesting at Marina Ibiza as of the morning of July 24; participants are denouncing the arrival of three cruise ships and around 10,000 tourists to the island. The demonstrations follow a series of rallies denouncing the effects of mass tourism in Spanish tourist hotspots.

Increased security is likely near the protest site, and localized transport disruptions are likely near the affected area. The presence of protesters in the port area could disrupt maritime operations and the onboarding and offboarding of passengers docking in the area.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the demonstration site, or traveling into Ibiza port through July 24. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
