US: Flight disruptions likely to affect airports serving Houston, Texas, into at least late July 6 due to severe weather
Thunderstorms prompt ground stop at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, US, July 6; lingering flight disruptions likely.
Flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, will likely affect airports serving Houston, Texas, into at least late July 6 due to severe weather impacting the region. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a ground stop for George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) that is slated to remain in effect until at least 16:00 due to thunderstorms. The FAA may extend, rescind, or otherwise modify the ground stop on short notice.
The FAA may also issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the Houston area over the coming hours. Residual disruptions are possible even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear any passenger backlogs that have materialized.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via IAH or another airport in the Houston area. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
