Informational

The country's energy provider SBBE (Societe beninoise d'energie electrique) will implement power cuts in parts of the country 11:00-15:00 on Aug. 29. Affected locations include some neighborhoods of Cotonou, Porto-Novo, and areas in Bohicon, Dassa, Glazoue, Kandi, Lokosso, Paouignan, Parakou, Savalou, and Save.

In the areas affected by the outage, temporary commercial and communications disruptions are likely. Traffic lights may not function, resulting in traffic disruptions, and public transport that relies on power may be affected. The outage could also result in the temporary unavailability of essential facilities such as ATMs and filling stations.

Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Plan for disruptions to business and utility services and possible road travel delays due to malfunctioning or nonfunctional traffic lights. Follow local travel and security advice.
