Cameroon: Protest likely at the Wouri Prefecture in Douala from 10:00 Dec. 19
Activists to likely gather at the Wouri Prefecture in Douala, Cameroon, from 10:00 Dec. 19. Increased security likely
Activits affiliated with the Redhac (Réseau des défenseurs des droits humains en Afrique centrale) human rights group will likely gather at the Wouri Prefecture from 10:00 on Dec. 19. The purpose of the action is to denounce the suspension of the group's activity. The gathering falls at the time Alice Nkom, Redhac president, is summoned after she broke the seal on the doors of the organization. Alice Nkom said she would not attend, but the gathering may still materialize.
If the protest materializes, heightened security and traffic disruptions are likely near the Prefecture. Clashes between police and demonstrators are possible.
Avoid the protest due to possible clashes. Plan for road travel delays. Do not drive through roadblocks; wait for police to clear them. Adhere to directives issued by local authorities. If clashes occur, depart the area immediately.
