Reports indicate that a lone suspect began stabbing people indiscriminately near a stage set up for the city's Festival of Diversity in Solingen's Fronhof area late Aug. 23. A significant police and emergency personnel presence remains at the scene, and the area is cordoned off. The motive behind the attack is not immediately apparent. Residents have been asked to stay home and avoid the city center.
