Informational

Pro-monarchy group Prachaphak Phithak Institute will gather at the Election Commission Office from 11:00, Aug. 19 to protest the opposition People's Party. Dozens of people could join the rally.

Authorities will likely deploy additional security personnel to monitor the gathering. Clashes between police and activists cannot be ruled out, especially if officials attempt to disperse the crowd. Localized transport disruptions are possible, especially if participants occupy or march along nearby roads.

Avoid the protest site as a precaution. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a safe nongovernmental building. Plan for possible localized transport disruptions in the vicinity. Heed all official security and transport advisories.

Former opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) members launched the People's Party Aug. 9 after the Constitutional Court of Thailand ordered the former's dissolution Aug. 7 for violating Article 92 of the Political Party Act.
