Argentina: Unionized teachers plan to strike across Santa Fe Province; march toward Provincial Legislature in Santa Fe city Sept. 12

Teachers affiliated with the Santa Fe Teachers' Association (Asociacion del Magisterio de Santa Fe, AMSAFE) plan to stage a provincewide strike and an associated protest march in Santa Fe city Sept. 12. The purpose of the actions is to denounce proposed pension reforms. Protest organizers have called for participating activists to gather at the intersection of Avenida General Lopez and Primero de Mayo in Santa Fe city at 10:00 and then march toward the Provincial Legislature. Thousands of people will likely participate in the demonstration.

Disruptions, including cancellations of school classes, will likely affect educational facilities across Santa Fe Province during the work stoppage. Authorities will probably deploy a heightened security presence to the vicinity of the Provincial Legislature to monitor the associated protest march.
