Activists plan to hold a protest march in central Vienna from 18:00 Sept. 16. The demonstration is intended to mark the two-year anniversary of the death of Jina/Mahsa Amini in Iran; its purpose is to denounce violence against women and to demand independence for Kurdish regions of Iran. Participants will gather at Resselpark near Karlskirche before marching through the surrounding area. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or ideologically opposed demonstrators cannot be ruled out.
