Bomb threat prompts emergency response, evacuation at Graz Central Train Station in Austria, Sept. 30. East Station also closed.

Warning

As of the evening of Sept. 30, emergency personnel are responding to a bomb threat at the Central Train Station in Graz. Officials responded after receiving an email threat that explosives were at the station. Police have evacuated and cordoned off Graz Central Station; the city's East Station (Ostbahnhof) has also been closed as a precaution. The security operation is disrupting services on the OBB and Graz tram lines; authorities expect the operation may last through at least 22:00.

Increased security, rail and transport disruptions are almost certain until officials conclude their investigation. Lingering disruptions could extend into early Oct. 1 as rail carriers reposition rolling stock and work through passenger backlogs.

Avoid the area and consider seeking alternative modes of transportation for time-sensitive travel. Heed all authorities' instructions. Reconfirm rail bookings if traveling through the impacted area through at least early Oct. 1.
