Belgium: Unionized airport workers extend strike at Charleroi Airport through Sept. 13 /update 1
Airport workers extend strike at Charleroi Airport in Belgium through Sept. 13. All Sept. 13 flights canceled.
Unionized airport employees have extended their ongoing strike at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) through at least Sept. 13. The purpose of the work stoppage, which was originally slated to last 24 hours on Sept. 12, is to press for improved working conditions. The action is primarily affecting key airport services, including luggage handling, check-in, and aircraft refueling. CRL officials confirmed that all flights scheduled for Sept. 13 have been canceled.
Flight disruptions related to the walkout could extend well into Sept. 14 as carriers reposition aircraft and work through their passenger backlogs. Strike organizers may announce further strike extensions.
Reconfirm all flight reservations if traveling via CRL through at least Sept. 14 and do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider arriving to the airport early to offset any check-in and security clearance delays once operations at CRL resume.
