Ireland: Activists to protest at Shannon Airport, Sept. 8
Political activists plan to protest at Shannon Airport (SNN), County Clare, Ireland, from 14:00 Sept. 8; increased security likely.
Political activists affiliated with the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) plan to protest at Shannon Airport (SNN), Shannon, from 14:00 Sept. 8. The purpose of the protest is to denounce the use of SNN for military purposes in connection to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Participants will gather at the roundabout on the N19 road, and will later march towards the airport facilities. Attendees will then proceed to rally until the end of the event, by 15:30. Organizers planned transport for activists from Cork and Dublin; several hundred people are likely to attend.
Increased security is likely near SNN for the duration of the protest. Localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely on the roads leading to the airport. Delays could affect passenger processing operations at SNN.
Allow additional travel time upon reaching SNN on Sept. 8. Reach SNN facilities ahead of the planned flights due to possible road travel delays. Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm flight schedules if planned to fly via SNN Sept. 8. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
