Curfew slated to remain in effect in parts of Kingston, Jamaica, until at least 18:00 Sept. 27; increased security presence likely.
Authorities have imposed a curfew in parts of Kingston that is scheduled to remain in effect until at least 18:00 Sept. 27. Officials initially implemented the curfew at 18:00 Sept. 23 following a fatal shooting incident in the capital. The curfew zone is roughly bounded by Greenwich Park Road, Studio One Boulevard, Slipe Pen Road, and Asquith and Thompson streets.
During curfew hours, all persons within the abovementioned area must remain in their respective homes unless specially authorized by the police to leave. Security forces, including both police and military personnel, are likely to maintain a heightened posture throughout the curfew area, setting up checkpoints and checking the identification of all individuals who are outside their homes. Localized transport and business disruptions will also almost certainly impact the area until the curfew measures are lifted.
Consider avoiding the abovementioned area until the curfew is lifted. If operating within the affected area, obey the curfew order. Adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
