Informational

Unionized workers and activists plan to strike and protest across Spain Sept. 27. The purpose of the labor actions and demonstrations is to demand that the Spanish government break off relations with Israel. Unionized workers affiliated with the General Confederation of Labor will conduct a general strike. Additionally, activists are organizing demonstrations in urban centers nationwide. Planned gatherings include:

  • Barcelona: Protest at Jardinets de Gracia from 18:00.

  • Bilbao: Protest at Teatro Arriaga from 19:00.

  • Madrid: Protest at Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Plaza del Marques de Salamanca from 13:00.

  • Madrid: Protest march from Madrid Atocha Station to Plaza de Callao from 19:00.

  • Seville: Protest at Palacio de San Telmo from 19:00.

  • Valencia: Protest march from Placa de Sant Agusti to Placa d'America from 19:00.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that take shape. Business disruptions are possible nationwide. Though unlikely, confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or ideologically opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.

Avoid affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near protest sites. Be prepared for potential business disruptions. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
