Climate activists plan to protest at Macka Democracy Park in Istanbul from 18:00 Sept. 20. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the phasing out of coal consumption and other climate-related politics, and coincides with an international call for climate protests. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security is likely near the demonstration. Transport disruptions are possible in the surrounding area. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enfrocement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
