Authorities are responding to a Russian missile strike targeting Poltava, Poltava Region, Sept. 3. At least two ballistic missiles reportedly hit an educational institution and a medical building and damaged a military telecommunications facility in the city. At least 41 people were killed in the attack and 180 injured. The exact location of the strike has not been disclosed due to operational security. Emergency and security services, as well as local residents, are reportedly operating in the impacted area to extract people from the damaged buildings.

Heightened security is deployed; travel and business disruptions are likely to continue in the coming hours. Electricity and water supply interruptions are likely. Further strikes are highly likely over the coming hours or days. The intensity of attacks and the consequent engagements by self-defense missile systems will likely cause debris and further damage.
