Argentina, Chile: Authorities close Los Libertadores border crossing due to adverse weather Oct. 9

Authorities have closed the Los Libertadores border crossing (the Cristo Redentor tunnel), which connects the Argentinean province of Mendoza with the Chilean region of Valparaiso, due to adverse weather as of Oct. 9. Officials have not indicated when the crossing will reopen.

Weather-related disruptions to cross-border transport and local traffic may continue in the area. In the coming days, officials may also close other border crossings due to weather-related disruptions.
