Armenia: Activists to demonstrate in Yerevan Oct. 11

Activists to protest at sites across central Yerevan, Armenia, from 11:00 Oct. 11. Tight security and transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Activists plan to protest at five locations in central Yerevan from 11:00 Oct. 11. The purpose of the demonstrations is to demand the release of prisoners of war and others held in Azerbaijan. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend; however, large crowds are possible. Demonstrations are planned at the following locations:

  • Embassy of France on Grigor Lusavorich Street.

  • Embassy of Russia on Grigor Lusavorich Street.

  • Embassy of the US on American Avenue.

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Vazgen Sargsyan Street.

  • United Nations Office in Armenia on Petros Adamyan Street.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all protest sites. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, potentially escalating to clashes, cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
