Unionized commercial vehicle operators in Mizoram State plan to stage an indefinite statewide strike from Oct. 23 to demand fuel price reductions. While significant participation of goods transport vehicles are likely, disruptions to private passenger transport vehicles, such as buses, taxis, and vehicles transporting essential commodities, will remain limited. Organizers may call off the action at short notice if negotiations with government officials succeed.

Associated demonstrations are possible at or near public squares, government buildings, transport hubs, and vehicle operator offices. Dozens of people may join events in Aizawl. Strike supporters may hold street marches or block roads such as National Highway 306 with vehicles. Any gatherings that materialize may attract security deployment and exacerbate localized traffic disruptions. While demonstrations are likely to pass peacefully, minor skirmishes are possible if police attempt to forcibly disperse unruly crowds.
