Significant traffic disruptions are likely near near Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) in Baja California through at least the early afternoon of Oct. 2 due to demonstrators blocking roads near the facility. Local residents have constructed a roadblock along Boulevard Aeropuerto and have closed the thoroughfare to all vehicle traffic in the area. The action is preventing many passengers from reaching the air terminal.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence in the area. Clashes between protesters and police are possible. Disruptions to air travel are possible, especially if airport or airline employees cannot reach TIJ.

Allow additional time to travel between the city of Tijuana and TIJ if booked to fly via the facility on Oct. 2. Plan for alternative routes. Heed instructions of authorities and do not attempt to cross protester roadblocks; wait for police to clear them before proceeding. Reconfirm flight schedules; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
