Serbia: Education workers to strike and protest in Belgrade Nov. 1
Unionized teaching staff to strike and protest at the National Assembly and Ministry of Education in Belgrade, Serbia, Nov. 1.
Unionized teaching staff affiliated with the Union of Trade Unions of Educational Workers of Serbia and several other unions plan to strike and protest in Belgrade on Nov. 1. Protesters plan to gather at Serbia's National Assembly 11:00-11:30, before a second demonstration will reportedly take place at the Ministry of Education, on Nemanjina Street, from 12:00 on Nov. 1. The demonstrators will demand improved salaries for education workers and denounce the lack of ongoing negotiations. Several thousand participants could attend both events.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites.
Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution. Plan for extra travel time near the affected area on Nov. 1. Heed instructions from authorities.
