Spain: Activists to demonstrate in Valencia Oct. 9

Activists to hold two protest marches in central Valencia, Spain, 18:00-22:00 Oct. 9. Heightened security, transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Activists plan to hold two protest marches in central Valencia 18:00-22:00 Oct. 9. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce the alleged suppression of Valencian culture and identity. Participants will gather at Placa de Sant Agusti before marching in separate columns to Placa d'Alfons el Magnanim and Placa d'America. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the march routes. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or ideologically opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the march routes. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
