Opposition political parties, labor unions, and civil society groups plan to march in Madrid, from 12:00 Oct. 13. Participants will gather at Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, then follow the Paseo del Prado to the Madrid City Hall in Plaza de Cibeles, and then follow Calle Alcala to Plaza de Callao. Over 30 activist groups will call for improved housing rights and cheaper rents. It is likely that several thousand will take part, based on previous similar events.

Heightened security, road closures, and localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route. The demonstration will likely pass off peacefully.

Avoid the protest march as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Madrid. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
