Thailand: Youth activists to march from the October 14 Memorial to the Democracy Monument in Bangkok from 15:00 Oct. 14

Rally planned from October 14 Memorial to Democracy Monument in Bangkok, Thailand, from 15:00 Oct 14. Tight security, disruptions likely.

Informational

Youth activists affiliated with the United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration (UFTD) group plan to stage a pro-democracy protest in Bangkok Oct. 14 to mark the anniversary of the 14 October 1973 uprising. Participants will gather at the October 14 Memorial at 15:00 before marching to the Democracy Monument at 16:30. Over a hundred people could join the action.

Police will likely deploy additional personnel to monitor the demonstration. As the activists march between rally sites, localized transport disruptions are probable. Although violence is unlikely, isolated scuffles are possible.

Avoid the protest sites as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for journeys to nearby destinations. Heed all official security and traffic advisories. Leave the area at the first sign of scuffles.
