Belgium: Farmers plan to protest in central Brussels Nov. 13

Unionized farmers led by the FUGEA union plan to protest in Brussels' European Quarter from 10:30 Nov. 13. Participants are likely to bring agricultural equipment and demonstrate in the area of Rue de la Loi and adjacent roads, including Luxembourg Square, based on previous events. The purpose of the protest is to denounce the ongoing EU-Mercosur agreement talks. Several other farmers' organizations are likely to join the demonstration. Several hundred to the low thousands of participants are likely to attend.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the protest. Road travel and transport disruptions are likely across central Brussels through Nov. 13. Limited confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers are possible.
