Belgium: Taxi driver protest in Brussels on Nov. 14
Taxi driver protest in central Brussels, Belgium, Nov. 14. Ground travel disruptions likely.
Taxi drivers associated with the Belgian Association of Limousine Drivers (Belgische Vereniging van Limousinechauffeurs, ABCL) plan to demonstrate in Brussels on Nov. 14. They will gather at the Uber office along Boulevard Louis Schmidt in Etterbreek before driving to Place Poelaert. From there, they will march to the offices of the FGTB/ABVV union before ending at the Brussels Parliament. They will leave the area and return to Place Poelaert in the afternoon. Taxi drivers want to adjust legislation concerning ride share and street taxis.
Road travel is likely to be disrupted in central Brussels through the afternoon of Nov. 14. Officials could temporarily close some routes ahead of and during the protest march. During the action, there will likely be increased demand for vehicle transport. Violence is unlikely; however, security personnel will likely monitor the event.
Plan for some road travel delays in central Brussels on Nov. 14. Heed the directives of officials. Do not drive through protest road blockages.
