Activists to protest at Bank of Thailand Nov. 4 and Government House Nov. 5 in Bangkok, Thailand. Tight security likely.

Informational

Activists affiliated with the Students and People's Network for Thailand Reform (STR) group plan to protest at the Bank of Thailand Headquarters Nov. 4 and Government House Nov. 5; both gatherings will begin at 10:00. Participants are demanding that the government take a stand on the Koh Kut island dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. Dozens to a few hundred people could join each event.

Heightened security is likely at the protest sites. Localized transport and business disruptions are possible. Clashes between demonstrators and security personnel may occur, especially if activists attempt to bypass security barriers or defy police orders to disperse. Officials may arrest overly disruptive demonstrators.

Avoid the protest sites as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for journeys in affected areas. Heed all official security and transport advisories. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a safe nongovernmental building. Do not attempt to cross roadblocks; plan alternative routes.
