Labor unions are planning two separate demonstrations converging at the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood House, Edinburgh, through the morning of Nov. 28.
Unite the Union members will gather at Johnston Terrace at 10:00 and then march to Holyrood House. Union leaders will call on politicians to save the Grangemouth oil refinery from closure. Several hundred to thousands may take part in the demonstration.
The National Farmers' Union (NFU) Scotland plans to demonstrate at Holyrood House from 11:30. Organizers will demand increased investment in the rural economy. Several hundred members may take part.
Authorities will likely deploy additional police to monitor the demonstrations. Associated security measures will likely prompt road closures and localized disruptions, but the events will likely pass off peacefully.
As a routine security precaution, avoid all protests. Prepare for ground travel delays near the protests and march route in central Edinburgh on Nov. 28.
