BiH: Activists to demonstrate nationwide Dec. 10
Activists to protest in several cities across BiH Dec. 10. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.
Activists plan to protest in Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Mostar, Trebinje, Tuzla, and Zenica on Dec. 10. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce femicide and demand improved government protections for women; the demonstrations also coincide with International Human Rights Day. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend. The following demonstrations are planned:
Banja Luka: Trg Krajine from 11:00.
Bijeljina: Trg Kralja Petra I Karadjorjevica from 11:00.
Mostar: Spanski Trg from 11:00.
Trebinje: Trg Slobode from 11:00.
Tuzla: Statue of Mesa Selimevic and Ismet Mujezinevic from 16:15.
Zenica: Trg Alije Izetbegovica from 11:00.
Law enforcement officers will likely deploy near all protest sites to facilitate the gatherings. The presence of demonstrators will likely disrupt vehicular transport near protest sites. Additional protests are possible nationwide. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
