Air traffic control (ATC) workers affiliated with the National Union of Air Traffic Controllers (SNCTA) plan to strike in Ajaccio, Lyon, Montpellier, Nimes, and Perpignan on Dec. 17. The purpose of the work stoppage is to denounce the end of labor negotiations. Authorities have cautioned that the labor action will likely cause the following flight disruptions:
Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA): Flight delays 00:01-23:59.
Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport (LYS): 60 percent of the day's flights canceled; cancellations likely 06:00-23:00.
Montpellier-Mediterranee Airport (MPL): All flights canceled.
Nimes Airport (FNI): All flights canceled.
Perpignan-Rivesaltes Airport (PGF): All flights canceled.
Striking ATC workers may engage in picket protests near the affected airports. Authorities may deploy an increased security presence near any demonstrations that materialize.
Allow additional time for travel via the affected airports. Do not check out of accommodations until onward flights are confirmed. Consider making alternative transport arrangements for time-sensitive travel.
