France: Unionized pubic transport workers to strike in Nantes Dec. 22 /update 1
Unionized public transport workers plan to stage 24-hour strike from 03:00 until end of service on Dec. 22. Bus and tram disruptions likely.
Unionized public transport workers employed by the Semitan transport operator plan to conduct a 24-hour strike in Nantes from 03:00 until the end of service on Dec. 22. The purpose of the strike, organized by the Force Ouvriere (FO) of Semitan union, is to denounce the planned increase of public transport services on Dec. 22. The union staged a related 24-hour strike on Dec. 15 for the same reason.
The strike will likely prompt significant transport disruptions, particularly for bus and tram services in Nantes. The industrial action will likely cause increased congestion on services that do operate. Striking workers could form pickets at transport hubs; an increased security presence is likely around any possible gatherings.
Reconfirm transport bookings if traveling through Nantes on Dec. 22. Allow additional time for travel. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard precaution.
