Mexico: Foreign nationals killed in Angamacutiro, Michoacan, Dec. 11

Two US nationals were killed during late Dec. 11 in Angamacutiro, Michoacan. The incident occurred at approximately 23:50 when armed assailants opened fire on the victim's vehicle as they were traveling together in Colonia Lazaro Cardenas. One victim died at the scene, while the other later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. As of Dec. 12, authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have yet been made. It remains unclear whether the victims were specifically targeted.

Angamacutiro is approximately 1201 km (75 miles) north of Morelia.
