Farmers to stage tractor demonstrations in Chisinau, Moldova, Dec. 18-19. Increased security, traffic disruptions likely.
Farmers affiliated with the Farmers' Force Association plan to protest in central Chisinau Dec. 18-19. The purpose of the demonstrations is to demand government measures to assist the agricultural sector. Participants plan to hold tractor protests at the Government House on Great National Assembly Square from 09:30 on Dec. 18. Additionally, organizers plan to protest at Parliament on Stefan cel Mare si Svant Boulevard on Dec. 19; however, organizers have not announced the protest start time.
Heightened security is likely in the affected areas. The slow-moving vehicles will probably cause significant congestion in central Chisinau Dec. 18-19; additionally, highway disruptions are likely on inbound routes the morning of Dec. 18 and outbound routes the afternoon and evening of Dec. 19 as tractors arrive and depart.
Avoid the protest sites as a standard precaution. Allow additional time for travel in central Chisinau during the day and for travel on major roads around the city. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
