Clashes between the Sa'ad and Leelkase clans are ongoing in the Jiicbor area of Mudug Region as of Dec. 29. Fighting in recent days has left at least 11 people dead and another 21 persons injured. Initial reports indicate that the clashes broke out over a land dispute. Various local and regional leaders from Galmudug and Puntland are attempting to mediate between the two clans.

Localized business and travel disruptions are likely in the impacted location; additional security measures could include checkpoints, increased patrols, localized curfews, or road closures. Further retaliatory violence is possible in the coming days.
