Public and private sector workers affiliated with several unions plan to rally in front of the Cankaya Gate of the Grand National Assembly in Ankara from 12:30 Dec. 20. The purpose of the action is to demand improvements to the 2025 state budget. The number of people who would participate in the demonstration was not immediately clear.

Authorities will probably deploy an increased security presence to monitor the gathering. Transport disruptions may affect the vicinity of the demonstration site during the protest. Confrontations between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protest as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Ankara Dec. 20. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
