Yemen: US and UK airstrikes reportedly targeted Sana'a and Al-Hudaydah Jan. 10
US and UK airstrikes reportedly targeted infrastructure in Sana'a and Al-Hudaydah, Yemen, Jan. 10. Further cross-border attacks likely.
The US and UK forces reportedly launched over 12 airstrikes targeting areas north of the Houthi-held capital of Sana'a and over six airstrikes targeting the port of Al-Hudaydah on Jan. 10. Reports indicate that a strike hit near the Al-Sabeen Square where a protest in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip was occurring. There has been no report of casualties. The Al-Houthis authorities claim the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were involved in the airstrikes. The IDF and US Central Command (CENTCOM) did not immediately confirm the airstrikes.
Emergency service personnel will likely deploy to targeted areas. Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are probable over the coming hours. Further airstrikes and retaliatory Al-Houthi attacks are possible in the short term.
If operating in Yemen, exercise caution and avoid Al-Houthi military sites and concentrations of security personnel. If airstrikes are reported in your general vicinity, take cover in the nearest shelter and remain there until given further instructions by authorities. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation.
