Vietnam: Heavy rain causes floods and landslides in north
At least nine killed by floods and landslides in northern regions as of July 10; further rain forecast in coming days
Event
As of July 10, at least nine people had been killed in the northeastern Dong Bac and Bac Trung Bo regions, due to flooding and landslides caused by heavy rain. Further rain is forecast in the coming days across the entire country.
Advice
Individuals in Vietnam are advised to follow all instructions as issued by local authorities (e.g. possible evacuation orders) and follow local weather forecasts. In the event of further flooding, remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
