Saudi Arabia: Arrests over social media posts

Government carries out arrests for “inciting public opinion” online; keep in mind social media may be monitored

On Thursday, October 5, it was reported that 22 people had been arrested for "inciting public opinion" via posts on social media outlets. This is part of a broader effort to crackdown on dissent in the kingdom, known for its widespread government surveillance.

Additionally, 24 other people were reportedly arrested for "exploiting social networking sites to promote lies and exaggerations." It is unclear is these two sets of arrests are related.
