Independence day parades planned in Warsaw and Kraków on November 11; traffic disruptions likely

Expect traffic disruptions in the capital city of Warsaw and Kraków on Saturday, November 11, due to Independence Day events celebrating of the anniversary of the restoration of Polish sovereignty in 1918. A military parade will take place at 12:00 (local time) in Warsaw from Piłsudski square to the Military Museum​. Authorities expect 18,000 people to participate in the 29th Independence Run at 10:00 in the capital between Rondo Zgrupowania AK Radosław and Rakowiecka Street. Political rallies are also scheduled to take place in Warsaw between 14:00 and 18:00 at Plac Politechiki, Nowogrodzka, Plac Zbawiciela, Mokotowska, Plac Trzech Krzyży, Książęca, Plac Trzech Krzyży, and Wiejska. Authorities expect 50,000 people to gather at 12:00 around the St. Barbara Church for the Solemn Mass before marching to the National Stadium.

In Kraków, demonstrations are expected between 15:00 and 19:00 from Rynek Główny to Matejki place.

Additional Independence Day celebrations will likely occur in other major cities around the country. Anticipate a heightened security presence and transportation disruptions in the vicinity of the events.
