Libya: Traffic disruptions following gunfire in Al-Dahra Feb. 14
Gunfire reported in Al-Dhara February 14; traffic disruptions due to subsequent Al-Wadden bridge closure
Event
Gunfire was reported in Al-Dahra district near the ENI North Africa building around Al-Nasr Street on the morning of Wednesday, February 14 (local time). Two shots were reportedly fired from a vehicle parked in the area. There are no reports of casualties. However, the incident has led to the closure of the Al-Wadden bridge, an access point to Al-Shat Road near the Tripoli port. Significant traffic congestion is to be anticipated in the vicinity until the bridge is reopened.
Advice
Individuals in Tripoli are advised to avoid the Al-Dahra area until the situation normalizes.
In general, the security environment in Libya remains complex. Although travel is permissible in some areas, other areas should be considered strictly off limits. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
