A Puerto Rico National Guard C-130 plane crashed at the intersection of the GA-21 highway and Crossgate Road, northeast of Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) in Savannah (Georgia), around 11:28 (local time) on Wednesday, May 2. At least five people are confirmed to have been killed in the crash. The GA-21 highway and Crossgate Road have been closed in the vicinity of the crash, and electricity has been cut in the area; rail transportation has also been suspended near the crash site as the railroad in the area also suffered damage. It is currently unclear when such disruptions will abate. Flight operations at SAV have not been affected.
