Viva Air Colombia announced on Thursday, May 3, that it will cancel its Bogota-Panama-Bogota and Medellín-Panama- Medellín routes starting on Sunday, May 20. The decision was made following a 135 percent increase in the airport rate charged by Panamá Pacífico International Airport (BLB) in Panama City. According to Viva Air, the rate increase was going to cause a corresponding price increase in tickets, which the company decided went against its philosophy of offering low prices.
