Truck driver protests planned in Sofia May 16-17 during EU-Western Balkan summit

A protest planned by Bulgarian truck drivers will take place in the capital Sofia from Wednesday, May 16, until 17:00 (local time) on Thursday, May 17. As of Wednesday morning, trucks have been parked in protest on the Sofia-Tsarigradsko highway, disrupting traffic notably between Sofia International Airport (SOF) and the National Palace of Culture.

Context

Truck drivers are protesting a European Union reform which would lead to significant work condition changes and could lead to the layoffs of 120,000 drivers.
