Union plans transportation strike in Augsburg and Regensburg (Bavaria state) June 13; buses, trams, and subways to be affected

The Verdi public sector union has announced a "warning strike" will take place in Augsburg and Regensburg (Bavaria state) on Wednesday, June 13. Transportation employees affiliated with the bus, tram, and subway systems are expected to strike for four hours beginning on Wednesday morning (local time). Bus, tram, and subway lines will be closed during the strike. However, S-Bahn lines and surface trains are expected to run as normal. Additional strike actions are planned in other municipalities throughout Bavaria state in the coming days. Traffic disruptions are expected during the strikes.

Context

The "warning strike" precedes union negotiations scheduled for June 15 in Nuremberg. The Verdi union is negotiating for better conditions for shift workers.
