Heavy rain prompts flooding in Kahramanmaras province, leaving at three people dead on June 13

At least three individuals were killed by flooding brought by heavy rain in the Onikisubat district of Kahramanmaras province on the evening (local time) of Wednesday, June 13. Houses and infrastructure have been damaged. Continued rain is possible in the coming hours and day, which may cause further localized flooding and traffic disruptions.

Individuals present in Kahramanmaras province are advised to keep abreast of the situation, avoid areas directly hit by flooding, prepare for associated traffic disruptions, and adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities (e.g. evacuation orders). Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater or chemical products; all items having come into contact with the water should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
