The Colombian weather service IDEAM has issued red alerts - the highest warning level - for several areas in the center of the country due to the risk of flooding along the Atrato, Bebaramá, Bojayá, Guayuriba, León, Meta, Mulato, Napipí, Opogadó, Salaquí, and San Juan rivers (among others). As of early Wednesday, July 18, the alerts were in effect in parts of the following departments: Antioquia, Casanare, Chocó, Cundinamarca, and Meta. Lower orange alerts for flooding and/or landslides are in place in various other parts of the country.

Advice

Individuals in the above areas are advised to avoid any areas directly impacted by flooding, monitor the situation, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. potential evacuation orders).
