Security forces used live ammunition to disperse protesters who gathered in the capital Tripoli overnight on July 19-20, to protest over recent power outages. Demonstrators reportedly blocked several roads with burning tires, including the al-Shat Road, which connects central Tripoli with the Mitiga Intenrational Airport (MJI). Another related protest is also expected to take place in Martyrs Square on Friday, July 20. Clashes between security forces and protesters, along with transportation disruptions cannot be ruled out. Further protests are possible in the coming days and weeks.
