Transportation worker strike across Lebanon on August 2; associated protests and roadblocks possible

Public transportation unions have called for a nationwide strike to take place on Thursday, August 2. According to union representatives, taxi, truck, and private bus drivers will participate in the strike to demand a series of reforms to the government's transportation policy. The work stoppage was initially scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 1, but was postponed to allow for celebrations of Armed Forces Day. Traffic disruptions are to be anticipated on August 2 in cities throughout Lebanon. Associated protests and roadblocks are possible.

Context

On July 25, transportation workers launched a series of protests and erected roadblocks in Beirut, Tripoli, Chtoura, Zahle, and Akkar.
