South Korea: Typhoon Soulik to hit the country August 22-24

Weather officials expect Typhoon Soulik to affect the country between August 22 and August 24, beginning in the southwest and making its way up along the western coast. The storm could potentially cause severe damage due to heavy rainfall and powerful winds. The typhoon is to first pass over the southwestern coast - north-northeast of Mokpo (South Jeolla province) - on the morning of August 23; Jeju Island and the southern coast will also be affected.

Soulik, the season's 19th typhoon, has been classified as strong medium-sized typhoon. Soulik may become the first to directly hit the country since Typhoon Sanba in 2012.
